Dry cleaning can be applied on any type of carpet. However, it is essential for certain types of carpets made by materials such as silk, sisal, jute, coconut, viscose and fiber. Some carpets are only for dry cleaning, which means they can only be cleaned with dry cleaning detergents or powder.
Sometimes the liquids poured on these types of carpets can be absorbed by its fibers, permanently damaging the carpet. In such cases, we will inform you that the carpet is only for dry cleaning and we will identify any existing stains that may not be completely cleaned. Your carpet will be cleaned using a dry powder that “shakes” the carpet fibers. This powder will absorb any dirt, allergens and bacteria from the carpet fibers and then will be extracted, like any dirt residues, with the method of suction.
Certain yarns, such as velvet, viscose and silk, require fine, special cleaning. The use of liquids can damage such yarns, and that is why we clean them with foam, in order to achieve safer, better results. We use specialized cleaning detergents, with substances that quickly turn into foam when stirred during the application process. The foam attracts dirt, allergens and bacteria from the fibers, which are then extracted from the yarn by the method of suction. It should be noted that foam cleaning is a relatively new and time-consuming process and requires a thorough evaluation of the yarn before application.
Woolsafe approved
Some carpets, especially wool, linen or a mixture of these two fibers, can either be dried or cleaned by cold water extraction. The advantage of cold-water extraction is the greater efficiency in removing spots and stains. The cold-water extraction uses water (up to 30 οC), with detergents approved by the Woolsafe Organization. These are added to a special tank of the cleaning machine and from there are sprayed on the carpet fibers. Then the water, along with the detergent and all the dirt, bacteria, larvae and allergens, are rinsed off the carpet yarn.
Woolen rugs may also have some particular problems:
The wool attracts moths, so there can be natural damage to the carpet yarns. Such damage must be repaired and not cleaned. If you notice such problems in areas of your carpet, please let us know. If our technicians detect such problems, we will help you deal with them.
This is the most effective cleaning method available today. Our technicians will use a wide range of hypo-allergenic detergents, along with hot boiling water in the machinery tank. The machine will inject water and detergents into the carpet fibers and rinse it immediately afterwards, along with dirt, allergens and bacteria.
Combined with this deep cleaning method, the use of steam and high temperatures contribute to higher efficiency. The hot water or steam purification method can be used on most natural or man-made fibers.
