The combination of carpets in a space can offer extra beauty and coziness, but we need to be careful not to exaggerate. Let’s see some simple and useful tips for an ideal combination:
Choose similar colors and patterns
The choice of the same or similar colors and patterns of carpets in all the rooms gives an overall modern and minimal style. But if you find it a bit monotonous, you can choose rugs in different shapes and sizes, depending on your space.
Prefer complementary colors
Blue with orange, light blue with brown or yellow with purple are some of the color combinations that create vivid but pleasant contrasts. Try one of them on your carpets, depending on the colors that prevail in your spaces.
Do not be afraid of the combination of colored & monochrome carpet
Especially in large spaces such as living rooms, the choice of different rugs changes the balances and helps to distinguish the functional areas, between the most active and the most relaxing. Usually the monochrome carpet is more discreet, leaving the colorful one to stand out.
Make sure your carpets have a similar style, regardless of the patterns
If your carpets follow a single style, e.g. modern or classic, then it does not matter if their designs and patterns are different. However, remember to maintain a dominant color in your mixes, while for a better overall result, it is good that your carpets are made of a similar material, with a uniform texture.
Stick to the color and “play” with the designs
Our spaces become very interesting and seem to start a dialogue with each other, when we use carpets of the same color, but with different designs (geometric, striped, rhombus, floral, abstract, etc.). Meanwhile, the other elements in the decoration of the space, such as, for example, the curtains, should be monochromatic, so that we avoid exaggeration.
